Selvol™ MM-51 by Sekisui Specialty Chemical is a tackified polyvinyl alcohol resin produced through boration of fully hydrolyzed grades. Used as the major component in adhesives. Provides high tensile strength, ease of film formation, very good adhesion to cellulosic substrates such as paper and wood and bonding characteristics. Shows resistance to greases, petroleum hydrocarbons and animal or vegetable oils, and to organic solvents. Provides tailored degree of wet tack, set speed, viscosity and penetration. Selvol™ MM-51 allows high levels of extender such as clay. Offers good pot life and very good water resistance. It is applicable in solid fiber laminating, tube and core winding and high performance wood.
