SpeedCure PBZ by Lambson (Sartomer) is a 4-phenylbenzophenone. Acts as a photoinitiator. Upon UV irradiation, it forms a chemically reactive state capable of hydrogen abstraction from an amine synergist. The free radical from the amine provides very efficient initiation of suitable resins. Exhibits a faster cure than benzophenone. Has low odor and little photo yellowing. It absorbs at longer wavelengths than benzophenone. SpeedCure PBZ is recommended for adhesives. Suggested levels of use are 0.5 – 3% w/w Speedcure PBZ together with 2 – 5% w/w Speedcure EDB or DMB.
