Adhesive ingredients for Flexible Packaging

LIGOS™ A 9200 by Trinseo is a styrene-free, robust and versatile all-acrylic emulsion with very low odor. It is designed for waterborne adhesive for the lamination of flexible structures that come in contact with food. Exhibits high efficiency due to high solid content, it enables fast processing and efficient drying.

• It ensures high initial shear- and bond strength which creates a more durable application.
• It also enhances mechanical and thermal resistance of packaging's by its potential to be combined with a water-dispersible crosslinker.
• LIGOS™ A 9200 is suitable for laminating paper to a wide range of substrates, including treated polyolefins, polyvinylidene chloride-coated substrates, metalized films, polyamide and polyester films.
• It is also effective for film-to-film structures.
• It increases operational efficiency for film converters by enabling fast slitting in post-lamination processes.
• Its repulpability is confirmed by using the CEPI recyclability laboratory test method and is suitable for standard mill recycling as certified by Papiertechnische Stiftung (PTS).

MARNEX™ AL072 by Macroocean is a linear, high molecular weight saturated polyester resin.

• It shows excellent adhesive strength to steels, metal, plastics and PET or PVC films.
• It offers good flexibility and adhesion when used with high Tg types of resin.
• MARNEX™ AL072 can be used for adhesive between metal and film or film and film application.
• Recommended for pretreatment for plastic films, flexible packaging and FFC applications.
• It has a shelf life of 24 months.
• Complies with FDA 175.300.

MARNEX™ AH550 by Macroocean is high molecular weight, saturated linear polyester resin. It shows excellent adhesive strength to steels, aluminum foil, PET and PVC films.

• When using melamine or blocked isocyanate curing agents to cross-link the polymer, good adhesion and film strength can be achieved.
• It offers good processability and heat resistance.
• MARNEX™ AH550 is recommended for pretreatment for plastic films, flexible packaging and industrial adhesive applications.
• It has a shelf life of 24 months.
• Complies with FDA 175.300.

Vinavil® EVA 015 by Vinavil is an ethylene-vinyl acetate water dispersion with polyvinyl alcohol as emulsifying system. Provides quick setting time, excellent adhesion to plastic materials, mechanical stability and a high cohesive strength. Shows a pseudo-plastic rheological behavior, which makes it particularly suitable for high speed machines. Exhibits resistance to high and low temperatures. Offers increase in viscosity of the emulsion and improves adhesion at low temperature without significantly lowering heat and creep resistance. It can be modified by adding plasticizers (dibutylphtalate) or coalescing agents (diethylene glycol monobutyl ether acetate). Applications include bonding plastic foils to wood, fiberboard and absorbent substrates for automatic packaging, bookbinding, automatic lamination of paper and board with plastic and metal foils. Vinavil® EVA 015 can be used to glue paper with plastic sheets and overlacquered papers, also with high-speed machines. It can be formulated with mineral fillers, such as calcium carbonate and calcium sulphate. It is especially compatible with thickeners (cellulosic and acrylic nature), plasticizers (phtalic esters, polymer based, chlorinated paraffine waxes, triacetin, acetyltributylcitrate), tackifiers resins (natural and modified colophony, coumarone-indene, terpenes, hydrocarbons) and natural latex rubber. Vinavil® EVA 015 complies by composition with BGVV XIV and FDA CFR 175.105. It has a shelf life of 6 months.

LIGOS™ A 3105 by Trinseo is styrene butadiene (SB) latex binder. It can be used as the main polymer or in blend with casein to reinforce performances of the final adhesive in wet adhesion and bonding strength.

LIGOS™ A 3006 by Trinseo is a low odor, styrene butadiene (SB) latex binder. It is a premium grade offering good adhesion on difficult substrates.

• It provides excellent resistance to oil migration.
• LIGOS™ A 3006 is suitable for lamination adhesive and paper to aluminum foil lamination.

Crilat® 2823 by Vinavil is a plasticizer free acrylic water-based dispersion. Provides good mechanical stability. Shows lower blocking than the most existing products used in these applications as well as high glossy film. The mechanical properties of the final joint (embossing) can be improved by using aliphatic isocyanates. It is APEO and formaldehyde free. Exhibits no grits formation during high speed process. Suitable as a raw material for formulating adhesives used for film print lamination in graphic arts and paper/converting industries. Crilat® 2823 has a shelf life of 6 months.

Vinavil® EVA 2609 L by Vinavil is a plasticizers and APEO-free aqueous dispersion of a vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer with polyvinylalcohol as emulsifying system. Provides excellent mechanical stability. It can be modified by adding plasticizers or coalescing agents which can lead to an increase in viscosity of the emulsion and improves adhesion at low temperature without notably lowering heat and creep resistance. It is used for bonding plastic foils to wood, fiberboard and absorbent substrates for automatic packaging, bookbinding, automatic lamination of paper and board with plastic and metal foils. Vinavil® EVA 2609 L can be formulated with mineral fillers, such as calcium carbonate and calcium sulphate. It has a shelf life of 6 months.

Surfynol® AS 5080 by Evonik is a 100% active non-ionic organic super wetter and defoamer. It is based on patented gemini surfactant technology. It is a low viscosity, easy-to handle liquid that contains no added silicones, siloxanes, fluorosurfactants, alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs) or hazardous air pollutants (HAPs).

• It is an excellent alternative for difficult-to-wet substrates requiring good flow and leveling under diverse application conditions.
• It provides improved formulation compatibility and ease of incorporation.
• It has the ability to reduce both equilibrium and dynamic surface tension.
• It can deliver exceptional performance in a wide variety of water-based applications.
• Surfynol® AS 5080 is used in pigment dispersion, flexible food packaging adhesives and pressure sensitive adhesives.
• The recommended usage is between 0.1 and 1.0% of total formulation weight.
• It has a shelf life of 24 months.

Surfynol® AS 5040 by Evonik is a non-ionic, non-foaming dynamic wetting agent. It is suitable for waterborne adhesives applications. It is a 100% active, easy-to handle liquid that contains no added solvents, siloxanes, silicones, fluorosurfactants, alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs) or hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). It provides surface tension reduction and enhances rapid penetration of absorbent substrates. It enables wetting of low-energy and contaminated substrates. Surfynol® AS 5040 is used in flexible food packaging adhesives and pressure sensitive adhesives. Its recommended usage is between 0.1 and 2.0% of total formulation weight. It complies with food contact regulations of US, Europe and Asia. It has a shelf life of 60 months.
