Seeking Novel Film Forming Technology For Instant Cosmetic Effects

A SpecialChem Client is seeking novel film-forming technology for instant cosmetic and optical effects on skin that reduces ageing marks.

The current market product does not offer an instant illusion to the anti-ageing effects through the manipulation of light and colour.

The SpecialChem Client ambition is to develop new unique technology which delivers a step change in optical effects, so that the final results are dramatically visible and long lasting up to 8-12 hours. The technology would immediately reduce the appearance of fine lines, deeper wrinkles, dark under-eye circles, uneven skin tone, rosacea and pores giving a finished effect.

The desired technology should:

• Form a continuous film that is non-tacky, breathable and long lasting all day
• Be comfortable in use and suitable for sensorial properties on the skin
• Be easily applicable to the skin in one or two steps
• Be compatible with pigments and optical blurring powders
• Be suitable for different cosmetic formats like aqueous, non-aqueous, O/W emulsions, W/Si emulsions etc.
• Be suitable for skin care and foundations

All approaches that can meet the success criteria are acceptable. Possible approaches could include but are not limited to:

• Silicone polymers
• Polymer technology forming film that can be used in combination with solids e.g. reflective and diffusing particles like TiO2, Boron nitride, polymeric spheres
• Catalyzed polymerisable films to form a highly flexible, durable and continuous film on the skin

The SpecialChem Client is NOT interested in materials not complying with the EU cosmetic regulations.

Solution should be available in 18 months and the client will adapt the formulation in 3 years.
