A SpecialChem Client is seeking innovative adhesives technologies to acquire.

Adhesives and tapes are an increasingly important technology platform. Many industries move away from mechanical bonding mechanisms to specialty adhesives that offer comparable or better performance. Therefore, the SpecialChem Client – leading adhesives and tapes manufacturer - is looking for novel adhesives and tapes solutions offering high performance properties around temperature, chemical resistance and hard-to-adhere substrates, enabling on-demand bonding and de-bonding, and environmentally friendly characteristics at acceptable price points.

Thanks to its superior marketing and distribution capabilities, the SpecialChem client is confident he could promote a differentiated and innovative technology to a next level of commercialization.

The desired technology should demonstrate one of the following properties:

• Adhere to:
• Low surface energy plastics (PE, PP, etc.)
• Emerging substrates such as new materials fabricated from 3D-Fabrication
• Composites
• Fluoromaterials
• Smart automotive paints / powdered coating paints, etc.)
• Present performance profile:
• Extreme temperature performance profile (high >100°C and low
• Extreme chemical resistance (fatty acids, lipids, long chain mild acids, carboxylic acids, human bodily fluids such as sebum)
• On-demand bonding and de-bonding (e.g., initiated by external forces, pressure, temperature, electrical, etc.)li>
• Green adhesives, naturally occurring adhesives, sustainable raw materials:
  • Bio-based adhesives
  • Bio-mimetic adhesives
• Solventless adhesives and new processes around tapes and adhesives
• Nanoparticulates to increase shelf life of adhesives
• Release materials for liners and related technologies such as liner-less tapes

Above performance criteria that enable a range of market applications (building & construction, electronic, appliance, food & beverage, transportation and metal working) at acceptable price points.

The SpecialChem Client is looking for young companies with innovative solutions in the defined technical scope, primarily mid to late stage (series B-D // in advanced R&D stage or close to commercialization or in first market introduction phase), ideally with > 1m USD revenues, close to break even, and with first paying customers that are interested in a strategic investment and/or business partnership.
