In current scenario, the demands of cable industry are growing for highly flame-retardant compounds to comply with class B2ca d0 and Cca d0 classes of EN 50399 fire test for CPR. Due to increased loading of flame-retardant fillers like ATH and MDH, HFFR compounds show several problems:

  • Increased viscosity giving lower speed line and higher overheating
  • Decreased mechanical properties, especially elongation at break
  • Higher production of die-droll and deposit in the die
  • Higher risk of porosity due to increase of moisture uptaking (equivalent to more hygroscopic compounds)

Watch this webinar which presents Silma’s chemical solutions to above issues:a full portfolio of additives to avoid these drawbacks while reducing costs. Moreover, we will explain different technical approaches and strategies in order to find your own most suitable solution for your cable related problems.

This webinar will demonstrate and set out four different additives:

  • Processing aid (Silmaprocess)
  • Hydrophobic agent (Silmastab)
  • Coupling agent (Silmalink)
  • Antidripping/char-forming (Silmaflame)

Few formulative strategies are also described with examples of HFFR compounds based on EVA+ATH as well as POE+n-MDH (natural MDH).
