EverWhite® EWP-5 by U.S. Silica is a highly refined, domestically sourced, silica-based mineral for plastic masterbatch used in high temperature extrusion. It has relatively small particle size distribution. It is used to replace other inorganic white pigments like titanium dioxide and aluminum trihydrate (ATH).
- This ultra-white pigment enhances both white and colored plastic masterbatch formulations.
- It is a more cost effective and less resource-intensive method than conventional titanium dioxide manufacturing.
- It is high temperature resistant and specially formulated to reduce discoloration, provides hardness and durability equal to other specialty minerals like white quartz and TiO2 based pigments.
- It disperses more easily and its flexibility in opacity helps with the depth effect of products.
- It is suitable for partial titanium dioxide independence in low-density polyethylene masterbatch and compound.
- EverWhite® EWP-5 has roughly half the density which allows the manufacturer more options in substitution.
- It is used particularly in rigid PVC applications such as window profiles.
- It enables partial replacement of titanium dioxide in the range of 20–50 wt%.
- It shows improved Gardner impact strength.
- It shows reduced yellowing (b-value).
- It provides approximately 44% reduction in carbon footprint.
- It shows comparable processability, color, UV durability, and mechanical properties to TiO₂-based systems.
- It can be incorporated into standard PVC formulations.
