Casachem™ PEG 6000

Casachem™ PEG 6000 by Thomas Swan is a high molecular weight binder, compatibility agent, processing aid, vulcanization activator and cure promoter. It is a high-performance polyethylene glycol polymer used in industrial applications. It delivers versatility and efficiency across processing, formulation, and compounding applications.

• It enhances extrusion and injection molding of rubber compounds.
• It delivers stable, low-volatility performance and improves flexibility, elongation, and impact resistance.
• It promotes cure in rubber processing systems and enhances performance when compounding with silica and clay.
• It provides cohesion in composite material formulations and ensures uniform blending in diverse polymer systems.
• It is solid, white flakes of consistent quality and provides excellent lubricity and plasticization for thermoplastic applications.
• It shows wide compatibility across both polar and non-polar polymer systems, including NR, SBR, BR, EPDM, and NBR, with a dual-polarity structure that enables solubility in both aqueous and organic systems.
• In addition, it improves the dispersion of fillers, pigments, and curatives, supporting more uniform processing and performance.
• It lubricates polymer chains, lowering mixing torque and improving extrusion.
• In filled compounds, it reduces cure retardation and improving vulcanization rates.
• Its amphiphilic nature (polar ether linkages and non-polar CH groups) promotes compatibility across diverse systems, ensuring homogeneous dispersion and improved physical properties in the final product.
• Recommended dosage level is 1–3 phr as a processing aid in rubber compounding, 4–5 phr for dispersion and cure promotion and t 1–5% w/w depending on the required plasticization and humectancy.
• Casachem™ PEG 6000 has a shelf life of 36 months.
