PW 60 by Polytechs is a high molecular weight polyisobutylene tackifier based cling masterbatch in linear low density polyethylene(LLDP). It is a dry free flowing pellet. PW 60 is used to produce stretchwrap film from LLDPE, LDPE and other polyolefins for the applications of palletwrap, silagewrap and foodwrap. It can be used on either blown film or cast film process. Polymers used with PW 60 masterbatch must not contain any Antiblocking additive, slip agent, or have a density higher than 0.923, as this will prevent the migration of cling additive. Migration time for good cling properties is usually 24 to 72 hours. On monolayer blown film lines, 10% PW 60 by weight should be added to resin mix. On monolayer cast lines, 4 to 6 % PW 60 should be added. On multiple-layer film lines, PW 60 is usually added to the skin layers only. Addition level depends on which layer is used and the thickness of layer. Polyisobutylene and polyethylene are allowed by the FDA for use in contact with food ( 21 CFR 177.1430 and 21 CFR 177.1520) and also meets the requirements of EC Directive 90/128/EEC and EC Directive 94/62/EC.
