Boron nitride. It is a large single-crystal powder in the typical hexagonal platelet structure. Acts as an electrical insulator and heat conductor. It is chemically inert, has low density, low coefficient of friction, and shows excellent machinability. It offers high thermal cycling resistance, resistance to most acids and melts, and a very high oxidation resistance. It is best suited for use in applications where heat dissipation from a localized source to a large surface is desired. Recommended for use as active filler for rubber, resins, & plastics and as mold release agent for injection molding of plastics. It is also recommended for polymer plain bearings and other friction elements, where it significantly improves their durability and reliability.
