Exolit® OP 1480

Supplied byClariant- Last Updated on Sep 7, 2023

Exolit® OP 1480 by Clariant is a highly stable, non-halogenated flame retardant. It is based on organic phosphinates. It achieves its flame-retardant effect through a combined gas- and condensed phase mode of action.
  • It exhibits outstanding thermal stability, wide processing window and very good physical & electrical properties.
  • It offers good colorability, good performance in cone calorimeter in low peak heat release, and low smoke- and material density.
  • It is designed for applications in hot and humid environments.
  • Exolit® OP 1480 is suitable for polyamide 6, polyamide 66, polyphthalamides and other high temperature polyamides such as PA 46 for both glass-fiber-reinforced and unreinforced grades.
  • The recommended dosage level in glass-fiber reinforced polyamide 6 and 66 is 20-24% (by wt.) for GWIT of 775°C and UL 94 V-0 classification for electrical components (at 1.6 mm, 0.8 mm and 0.4 mm thickness)
  • In semi-aromatic polyamides, the recommended dosage level is approx. 15% for UL 94 V-0 and GWIT of 850°C.
