Hollow glass spheres acts as a filler in matrix system for different types of syntactic foam, in polymer resins generally to make large boat hulls. It imparts low thermal conductivity, resistance to compressive stress and most importantly, light weight. It is coated with the metal to achieve the quality of absorbing the electromagnetic current rather than reflecting it and therefore becomes resistant to EMI.
