Stearyl Acrylate 1618 (SA 1618) by BASF is stearyl Acrylate 1618 (SA 1618) by BASF is acrylate monomer. It imparts hydrophobicity, low shrinkage, chemical resistance, flexibility, weatherability and impact resistance to polymers. It forms homopolymers and copolymers. Its copolymers can be prepared with acrylic acid and its salts, amides and esters, and with methacrylates and acrylonitrile. It is low viscosity monomer with the characteristic high reactivity of acrylates and long hydrophobic chain. It is also a very useful feedstock for chemical synthesis, because it readily undergoes addition reactions with a wide variety of organic and inorganic compounds.
