Polymerization Catalysts for Plastic Compounds

TIB KAT® 250 distributed by DKSH is a solid, amorphous catalyst based on monobutyltin dihydroxychloride. It can be used in esterification, transesterification and polycondensation reactions.

• It leads to excellent results in the production of saturated and unsaturated polyester resins as well as in production of alkyd resins.

TIB KAT® 808 distributed by DKSH is copper naphthenate-based co-catalyst for the curing of unsaturated polyester resins. It acts as polymerization regulator in the cobalt-catalyzed crosslinking reaction.

TIB KAT® 635 distributed by DKSH is a solid zinc based catalyst for oleochemical and polyester production. It is a raw material for manufacturing ZnO via sol gel process, wood treatment formulations, pharmaceutical ingredient, micro nutrient for animal feeds and for other zinc chemicals.

NYRIM® C1 Catalyst by Brüggemann is a solid, magnesium-based catalyst along with the activators NYRIM® P1-30- or NYRIM® P1-20A prepolymers. It is used in the anionic polymerization of AP-NYLON® caprolactam and for producing cast polyamide. This system enables the production of homogeneous cast parts of a reproducible high quality with short production cycles (demolding after less than 10 minutes) and low casting temperatures (melt: 95-105°C, mold: 140-150°C). Typical products of cast polyamide extend from large, low-tension semi-finished products, such as bars, tubes, and plates, to complex, often thick-walled molded parts that cannot be manufactured through injection molding or extrusion. It is suitable for rough and tough applications. The amount of NYRIM® C1 catalyst ranges from 4-8% (by weight). The shelf life of the product is at least 6 months under (dry, 25 °C) conditions.

Lupragen® N 208 by BASF is a low-VOC reactive catalyst. It is suitable for the production of polyurethane (PU) flexible, semi-rigid and rigid foams. It is firmly integrated into the PU polymer network during foam production so it cannot escape from the foam afterwards. It is used in flexible foams for mattresses and upholstery, more rigid foams for automotive interiors such as dashboards or armrests.

Ken-React® KR® TTS supplied by FARRL is a titanate product based on titanium IV, class monoalkoxy, with isostearoyl functionality. It has low viscosity and solid content of min. 95%. It helps in adhesion promotion, coupling and dispersing of substrates (inorganics, organics, pigments, fibers, etc.), rheological adjustments of the base resin and filled systems, corrosion inhibition and improved acid resistance, improvement of flame retardants, metallocene-like catalysis and hydrophobizing of fillers and pigments in a wide range of applications. It is also available as dry-liquid powder under the name Ken-React® CAPOW® KR® TTS/H for powder-based productions and as pelletized masterbatch under the name Ken-React® CAPS® KR® TTS/L for productions based on pellets. Ken-React® KR® TTS is used in the processing of elastomeric, thermoset and thermoplastic polymers. The product has a shelf life of minimum 3 years after production. SUPER DRY 1000 by Eagle Specialty Products is a cobalt-free drier that enhances drying performance and film stability.

• It is designed to replace cobalt driers in coatings where cobalt causes adverse effects.

TYTAN™ BIP15 by Borica is a process catalyst. It also acts as adhesion promoter and crosslinking agent. It is a mixture of tetra isopropyl titanate and tetra n-butyl titanate at 85-15 ratio. It is used in a variety of industrial applications as an esterification-, transesterification- and olefin polymerisation catalyst. TYTAN™ BIP15 is recommended for hydroxylic compounds.

SOLVEGUARD SG-P99 by Solvento is an ultra-high purity antimony trioxide produced specifically for use as a polycondensation catalyst in PET and polyester fiber manufacture. It has exceptionally low impurity profile, particularly arsenic, lead and iron that ensures minimal color impact and maximum catalyst efficiency in the final polymer.
