Phenolic Monomers for Plastic Compounds

PARA-NONYLPHENOL by Dover Chemical (ICC Industries) is used in the manufacture of nonionic surfactants. It is reacted with phosphorus trichloride to produce trisnonylphenol phosphite, which is a common antioxidant for a wide range of polymer systems and reacts with aldehydes to yield phenolic resins. It is used as a reclaiming agent for synthetic rubber, as an intermediate for polyvinyl chloride plasticizer, and epoxy resin hardeners. PARA-NONYLPHENOL is also used in pharmaceuticals, corrosion inhibitors, dyestuffs, ore floatation agents, insecticides, bactericides, chemical stabilizers and the leather industry. The shelf life of the grade is 1 year.

PARA-CUMYLPHENOL (PCP) by Dover Chemical (ICC Industries) is a solid at room temperature. It is suitable for surfactants, phenolic resins, and polycarbonate chain terminator.

DINONYLPHENOL 70% by Dover Chemical (ICC Industries) is a dark amber, viscous liquid with several areas of application including oil additives, emulsifiers, phosphites, and resins.

Cardanol by Golden Cashew is a light pale yellow liquid manufactured from cashew nut shell liquid. It is also known as cashew phenol. The unique molecular structure, especially unsaturation of long hydrocarbon side chain, makes the cross linking easy on polymerization. Besides the side chain imparting hydrophobic nature to the polymer, its coating is water repellent and weather resistant. Cardanol based resins posses an outstanding resistance to softening action of mineral oils and high resistance to acids & alkalies, antimicrobial property, termite and insect resistance etc. Contributes to improved flexibility, good drying after baking, high electric insulation properties and thermal stability. Amenability to chemical modification to effect desirable changes so as to get specific properties for making tailor-made polymers of high value, thus the structural changes could be effected at the hydroxyl group, on the aromatic ring and on the side chain. These properties make it an effective substitute for the petroleum-based phenol. Used in synthetic rubber and wax compounding.

Bisphenol A-157 by Westlake Epoxy is a difunctional phenolic compound produced by the condensation of acetone and phenol. It is a white flaked solid of high purity used as a major ingredient in high molecular weight linear polymers such as polycarbonates and polyesters. Bisphenol A-157 has a shelf life of 3 years.

Doublemer® 1702 by Double Bond Chemical is fatty acid modified bisphenol A epoxy diacrylate. Appearance is clear and clean. It possesses high gloss and higher flexibility than standard bisphenol A epoxy diacrylate. Doublemer® 1702 exhibits excellent water- & chemical-resistance and shows good flow & levelling.

RIKABINOL HB by New Japan Chemical is an alicyclic dihydric alcohol monomer obtained by nuclear hydrogenation of bisphenol A. Produces clear and colorless hardened products with good weather- and chemical resistance. Used as a polyester resin raw material or alkyd resin raw material. Its applications include synthetic fibers and synthetic rubbers. Also used in photosensitive resin raw material. RIKABINOL HB is TSCA listed.
