Nucleating Agents for Plastic Compounds

Hyperform® HPN® 58ei by Milliken is a high-performance nucleating additive polypropylene homopolymer. It is designed to enhance the appearance of thermoformed packaging parts and sheets. It is suitable for processing by sheet extrusion and thermoforming.

• It provides enhanced optical performance, excellent isotropic shrinkage and improved productivity.
• It reduces yellowness index (YI) to make regrind more color stable.
• It also reduces haze and improves clarity, as desired for the end-use application.
• Hyperform® HPN® 58ei is used in packaging for food and beverage, meat, microwavable food and electronics.

Hyperform® HPN® 20E by Milliken is a high performance nucleating agent for polypropylene. It offers excellent stiffness/impact balance, unique isotropic shrinkage and superior CLTE performance. It has excellent nucleation performance to maximize processing speed, consistent processing, cycle time reduction (more caps/minute) as well as improved quality-less defects such as sink marks. Exhibits better dimensional stability. It is used in automotive, appliances, pipe extrusion and closures. Hyperform® HPN® 20E is suitable for processing by injection molding, thermoforming, extrusion blow molding, rotomolding and blown film extrusion.

BRUGGOLEN® P22 by Brüggemann is a nucleating agent for polyamides. When it is added to the polymer melt, the amorphous powder is split into very fine particles. It offers improved mold release, dimensional stability and mechanical properties (increased tensile strength and stiffness). It provides reduced post-shrinkage and prevention of stress cracking of the finished product. It can be used in glass-fiber reinforced polyamides. Higher production rates are achieved due to reduced overall cycle time. BRUGGOLEN® P22 is suitable for processing by compounding on twin screw extrusion machines, dry blending and injection molding. Recommended dosage is 0.05-0.2%, depending on the polymer and the desired properties of the finished parts. It has shelf life of 12 months under (closed, dry, 25°C) conditions.

Hyperform® HPN® 68L by Milliken is a high-performance additive designed for use with polypropylene (PP) homopolymers. It possesses extremely fast polymer crystallization speed. It has isotropic shrinkage for reduced warpage and high productivity as well as overriding nucleation power. It is suitable for processing by injection molding and thermoforming. It finds application in automotive, appliance, material handling, caps and closures.

Hyperform® HPN® 600ei by Milliken is a high-performance nucleating agent for polypropylene. It offers higher stiffness/impact performance, high flexural modulus and fast crystallization rate. Exhibits isotropic shrinkage and excellent aesthetics. It provides warpage control, low density (lightweight), improved quality to uniform shrinkage, and faster cycle times. It is suitable for processing by thermoforming, injection molding and extrusion blow molding. Polypropylene nucleated with Hyperform® HPN® 600ei offers material substitution options for processors using other clear materials such as OPS or PET. Hyperform® HPN® 600ei is used in packaging, drink cups/ lids, thermoformed parts, and bottles. The recommended dosage is 400-1000 ppm for twin-screw extrusion.

Hyperform® HPN® 68Li by Milliken is a high-performance additive designed for polypropylene (PP) homopolymers. It is ideal for use in clear PP packaging including thin-wall injection molding. It provides a higher heat deflection temperature, extremely fast crystallization speed with accelerating cooling times and reduced cycle times. It delivers improved stiffness (flexural modulus) while maintaining the impact performance. It offers energy-saving and warpage control properties. Its unique isotropic shrinkage behavior allow dimensionally stable, non-warping PP parts. Hyperform® HPN® 68Li reduces haze and the yellowness index, yielding final parts that are cleaner, clearer and more transparent, which can further enhance sustainability by allowing for more inter-material replacement.

BRUGGOLEN® P252 by Brüggemann is a synergistic mixture of various nucleating and lubricating substances. It is a very effective crystallization accelerator for thermoplastic polyesters, inducing a very fine and homogenous crystalline structure. It is designed for use in injection molding and extrusion. It offers improved mold release, improved dimensional stability and reduction of post–shrinkage and prevention of stress cracking of finished product. Moreover, it provides improved surface gloss, less streaks and mechanical properties (increase of tensile strength and stiffness). It is suitable for processing by dry blending and compounding on twin screw extrusion machines. It is compatible with polyesters (PET and PBT). Recommended dosage level of BRUGGOLEN® P252 is 0.2-0.5%, depending on the polymer and the desired properties of the finished parts. It has a shelf life of 12 months under (closed, dry, 25°C) conditions.

WARADUR® OP distributed by DKSH is an ester wax consisting of esters of montanic acids with multihydroxyl alcohols. It acts as a nucleating-, release agent, flow improver, dispersing agent for color masterbatches and filled plastics (talc, glass fiber), gloss booster, surface improver.

• It is made from a fossil biological source.
• The corresponding esters in WARADUR® OP exhibit chain length in the range of C58-C66 and provide this wax with a low volatility, good thermostability and low migration rates.
• It is compatible with thermoplastics such as PA, PBT, TPE, PC, PVC, styrenics, thermosets such as epoxy resins, phenolic resins and polyurethane.
• The maximum shelf life is 5 years.
• It is available in Malaysia.

TOWREX® NU 500P distributed by DKSH is a high-performance nucleating agent to improve clarity, mechanical properties for polyolefin and mainly polypropylene masterbatch. When added into polypropylene, it acts as a large number of nuclei to generate smaller, highly dispersed crystals and provides remarkably increased clarity, heat resistance and rigidity.

• It provides good effect with small dosage, appearance without blooming and good dispersion.
• It exhibits improvement of transparency, gloss, dimensional stability and heat distortion temperature.
• It offers higher productivity due to shortening cycle time in molding process.
• TOWREX® NU 500P is used in disposable syringe, transparent article, high transparent PP sheet and heat resistance PP container.
• Recommended dosage level is 2000 to 3000 ppm for homo and random polypropylene.
• It has a shelf life of 24 months.
• It is available in Vietnam and Indonesia.

Hyperform® HPN® 900ei by Milliken is a high-performance additive designed for thin-wall injection molding in polypropylene homopolymers and mini-randoms. It exhibits an excellent balance of physical properties with good stiffness (flexural modulus) and impressive impact performance. It provides a higher heat deflection temperature and an increase in crystallization temperature. Its unique isotropic shrinkage behavior allow dimensionally stable, non-warping PP parts. It reduces haze and the yellowness index, yielding final parts that are cleaner, clearer and more transparent, which can further enhance sustainability by allowing for more inter-material replacement. Hyperform® HPN® 900ei ?is suitable for packaging applications.
