Infra-red Filters

Infra-red (IR) filters are specialized materials designed to selectively transmit infrared light while blocking visible light. Made from acrylic or polycarbonate, these additives work by allowing IR wavelengths to pass through while absorbing or reflecting visible light. Key features include their high transmittance in the infrared region, excellent optical clarity, and durability. Commonly used in remote controls, security systems, and proximity sensors. 

Alternatives to infrared filters include visible light filters and multi-spectral filters. Sub-types include narrowband and broadband filters.
