Anionic Surfactants

Based on 132 products - Last update on the Jun 26, 2025

Anionic surfactants typically appear as clear to yellowish liquids, pastes, or powders, characterized by a hydrophilic head bearing a negative charge and a hydrophobic tail. Key features include excellent foaming, detergency, and emulsifying properties. These versatile compounds find extensive application in emulsion polymerization as primary emulsifiers, where their ability to stabilize monomer droplets ensures uniform particle size and improved polymer properties.

While non-ionic and cationic surfactants exist as alternatives, anionic surfactants often offer superior foaming and cleaning performance for many applications. Common sub-types include sulfates (e.g., sodium lauryl sulfate), sulfonates (e.g., linear alkylbenzene sulfonate), and carboxylates, each offering slightly different performance characteristics.
