CASABOND™ 1202
by Thomas Swan
CASABOND™ 1202 by Thomas Swan acts as an adhesion promoter and can be formulated into systems based on natural rubber, SBR, BR, NBR, EPDM, CR and blends of NR/SBR, NR/BR and BR/SBR.
- It improves handling, dispersion as well as reduces energy consumption and fuming.
- It enhances adhesion to brass- and zinc-coated steel during vulcanization and direct bonding to textiles such as rayon, nylon and polyester, as well as glass and aromatic fibers.
- It requires the presence of a methylene donor such as hexamethylenetetramine (HMT) or hexamethoxymethylmelamine (HMMM).
- It is used in hoses (textile or wire reinforced-hydraulic/oil suction/ discharge hoses), belting (textile or wire reinforced-conveyor-/transmission-/V-belting), tyres (textile or wire reinforced- passenger/truck/aircraft tyres (both cross-ply and radial)) and rubberized fabrics (protective clothing, tarpaulins, diaphragms with synthetic, woven fibers).
- Its recommended dosage level is 3.0-4.0 pphr along with 1.5-2.0 pphr of hexamethylene-tetramine.
- To improve further bond strength, 10.0-15.0 pphr of reinforcing silica can be added.
- CASABOND™ 1202 has a shelf life of 24 months.
