SI Group expands biphenol capacity through China joint venture

SI Group and Shengxiao Group, an LCP monomer and specialty chemicals producer, have established Shengnova Advanced Materials, a joint venture based in Sichuan, China, structured to accelerate additional capacity of biphenol in China.
The joint venture combines Shengxiao Group's established biphenol manufacturing infrastructure and regional market access with SI Group's proprietary technology and global biphenol expertise.
Reinforcing supply security through multi-region production footprint
According to both companies, Shengnova Advanced Materials is designed to broaden local biphenol supply for applications across the region.
SI Group continues production at its Newport, Tennessee facility alongside the new Sichuan-based operation, creating a multi-region production footprint that supports supply security for global customers.
Biphenol is a monomer used in liquid crystal polymers (LCP), polyphenylenesulfone (PPSU), and other applications. According to both partners, expanded regional production is intended to support growing demand in the electronics, automotive, and medical sectors, where high-performance materials are required for advanced applications.
