Requiring no chemical hazard labeling

According to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), BBSA may cause organ damage through prolonged or repeated exposure and is classified as harmful to aquatic life with long-lasting effects.

These classifications require specific hazard statements to be included on Material Safety Data Sheets, a compliance consideration that directly affects formulation documentation and product labeling for any PA component, coating, or adhesive in which BBSA is currently used.

Emery Oleochemicals, drawing on its history as a supplier of naturally derived chemicals, reports that the new EDENOL® grade features 100% biobased carbon content and requires no chemical hazard labeling. Final application testing is currently underway in Emery's application laboratory. Initial results indicate that this new addition to the EDENOL® product family can effectively substitute BBSA in targeted applications while maintaining performance expectations.
