Strengthened PFAS regulations are driving the need to re-evaluate product designs that have traditionally relied on fluoropolymers. For applications such as cables, release films, and heat-shrink tubing, a major challenge is transitioning to alternative materials while maintaining key performance characteristics such as high heat resistance, low dielectric properties, and excellent releasability. However, the number of materials that can match fluoropolymer performance and are also suitable for practical processing and mass production is limited, which often slows down evaluation and implementation efforts
In this webinar, we will introduce PFAS-free solutions based on TPX™, a polyolefin resin developed by Mitsui Chemicals. TPX™ offers electrical properties, releasability, and heat resistance comparable to fluoropolymers, while also providing versatile processability, making it a promising alternative material.
We will focus on the latest development grades for three key application areas. For cable applications, we will highlight the potential of TPX™ as an insulating material that meets both high-frequency performance and thermal requirements. For film applications, we will present technologies that improve high-temperature stiffness to enhance conformability in CFRP molding, particularly for complex shapes. For tube applications, we will introduce optimized solutions for catheter manufacturing, including improved expandability, shrinkage behavior, and thickness uniformity.
Through these examples, we aim to demonstrate not only material substitution, but also a practical approach to PFAS-free implementation at the application level, considering processability, cost, and manufacturability. This webinar will provide valuable insights and actionable ideas for engineers facing challenges in material selection and product development, helping them take the next step toward evaluation and adoption.
