Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) appears as a flexible, transparent to translucent elastomer with exceptional abrasion resistance and elasticity. Key features include outstanding abrasion resistance, excellent tear strength, good oil and grease resistance, high elasticity, and exceptional wear properties. TPU excels in footwear components, cable jacketing, industrial belting, medical tubing, and sporting goods. 

TPU competes with thermoset rubbers and other thermoplastic elastomers. The industry is trending toward bio-based formulations using renewable polyols and grades with improved recyclability. TPU is available in three main chemical types: polyester-based, polyether-based, and polycaprolactone-based.
