Epoxy, Epoxide (EP) Resin

Based on 1687 products - Last update on the Jun 26, 2025

Thermoset epoxy resin appears as a clear to amber-colored material that transforms from a liquid or semi-solid state to a hard, glossy, highly crosslinked polymer after curing. Key features include outstanding adhesion to most substrates, excellent chemical and corrosion resistance, superior electrical insulation properties, minimal shrinkage during cure, and good mechanical strength. Epoxy resins excel in adhesives, protective coatings, electronic encapsulation, composite matrices, and flooring applications.

Alternatives to Epoxy resins include Polyurethanes and Polyesters. The industry is trending toward developing bio-based formulations using plant-derived feedstocks and systems with reduced hazardous components. Various subtypes exist including bisphenol A-based epoxies, cycloaliphatic epoxies, novolac epoxies, flame-retardant versions, flexible grades, and rapid-cure versions.
