Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)

Based on 3760 products - Last update on the Jun 26, 2025

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) appears as opaque, rigid thermoplastic pellets or granules, typically ivory to off-white in color with a semi-glossy surface finish. Its chemical structure provides chemical resistance, impact strength, toughness, rigidity, and processability. Key features include excellent impact resistance, good dimensional stability, high surface gloss, outstanding toughness-to-weight ratio, and ease of processing. ABS is primarily used in automotive components, electronic housings, appliance parts, toys (notably LEGO bricks), consumer goods, and 3D printing filaments.

Alternatives include high-impact polystyrene (HIPS), polycarbonate, and various PC/ABS blends. The industry trend shows an increasing focus on flame-retardant grades for electronics and the development of recycled and carbon-neutral formulations to meet sustainability goals. Sub-types include high-heat grades, high-impact grades with higher butadiene content, plating grades for metallization, transparent ABS blends, and various modified versions incorporating additives.
