Sumitomo Chemical restructures polymer business

Sumitomo Chemical announces that, as of July 1, 2026, the Company will implement a reorganization as follows.

Essential & green materials sector

  • The Polyolefins Division and the Automotive Materials Division will be merged to create the Essential Polymers Division. In addition, the Business Planning & Administration Dept. and the Sales Dept. will be placed under this division.

     

  • Work for matters related to licenses overseen by the Planning & Coordination Office, Essential & Green Materials Sector, as well as the catalyst businesses overseen by the Essential Materials Division, Polyolefins Division, and MMA Division, will be consolidated to form the new License & Green Solutions Division. In addition, the Global License Dept, which will handle matters related to business division management and coordination, as well as technical licensing, and the Catalyst Solutions Dept, which will handle catalyst sales and related matters, will be placed under this division.

     

  • The concepts for the development products handled by the Resin-related Business Development Dept. will be transferred to Prime Polymers Co., Ltd. and the Planning & Coordination Office, Essential & Green Materials Sector, and the department will be eliminated.
