More than 70% recycled PP for robust tool cases: LYB awarded by PRSE

Last update on May 18, 2026

Incorporating high levels of post-consumer recycled content into rigid, functional parts without compromising mechanical performance remains one of the more demanding challenges in plastics manufacturing today. A recognition at the Plastics Recycling Awards Europe signals that this challenge has a documented, application-tested answer – built on LyondellBasell's CirculenRecover portfolio.

LyondellBasell (LYB) received the award in the Household & Leisure category at the Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRSE) in Amsterdam, for the L-Boxx Contractor developed in collaboration with Bosch Power Tools. The recognition reflects demonstrated progress within LYB's broader Circulen portfolio – a range spanning high-quality recycled polymers, polyolefin solutions designed for recycling, and masterbatches for recyclates – focused on translating circularity targets into business-ready material outcomes.

Meet strict drop-test standards

The application at the center of the award involves several models in the Bosch L-Boxx tool storage family (L-Case 1&3, 3AC, Carrying Case 4.3), with the L-Boxx Contractor to follow. Each case is produced from more than 70% recycled polypropylene derived from post-consumer waste, while meeting the strict drop-test standards required by Bosch Power Tools.

The feedstock is processed at the Closed Loop Preparation Center in Germany – strategically led by LYB and operated by Reyond – where plastics from end-of-life vehicles and large household appliances are collected, sorted, and mechanically prepared into defined grades. That sourcing and processing chain provides the traceability and batch consistency that performance-critical applications require.

"Recognitions like this one show what's possible when circularity is translated into everyday products – delivering the performance customers expect while helping scale circular and lower-carbon materials through collaboration across the value chain," said Frank Noeltgen, vice president of advanced polymer solutions Europe at LYB.

Christian Hoss from Bosch Power Tools GmbH added, "This award is a testament to the dedication of our entire team and our partners. It confirms that sustainability is the wisest investment in our future. I am proud of our contribution and see this award as an incentive to continue resolutely on our shared path, because it shows what is possible when many people work together to take the right steps."

Solutions with up to 100% recycled content

CirculenRecover is LYB's mechanical recycling solution, designed to transform post-consumer plastic waste into grades with up to 100% recycled content. According to LYB, these grades may contribute to a lower product carbon footprint relative to virgin polymers, depending on application and measurement methodology.

For more than 70 years, LYB has been involved in shaping polyolefin development – from early advances in PE and PP to current recycling technologies – with value chain collaboration described by the company as central to delivering traceable, application-specific solutions.
