Avient to showcase PFAS-free lubricious resins for catheters at MD&M West

Last update on Jan 28, 2026

Avient Corporation returns to MD&M West as both an exhibitor and presenter. The company will highlight its broad portfolio of healthcare materials, including the recent launch of its GlideTech™ Formulations, a new non-PFAS lubricious technology for catheters.

Eliminate PTFE and secondary coating processes

NEW: GlideTech™ Formulations are non-PFAS and non-siloxane single-pellet polymer compounds that can streamline manufacturing. These deliver excellent coefficient of friction (CoF) performance to replace traditional options such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and eliminate the need for secondary coating processes.

Made without intentionally added per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) to help address regulatory shifts in the market, the portfolio offers ISO 10993-5 and USP <87> compliance in standard grades, compatibility with common sterilization methods, and enhanced processability on conventional extrusion equipment. The GlideTech™ portfolio comes in a variety of standard base resins and can be customized to satisfy specific needs. This makes it a high-quality option for catheters, particularly those used in neurological and vascular applications.

Avient will also host two technical presentations on GlideTech™ formulations at the show, both by Fred Birkel, Advanced Application Development & Technical Services Engineer for Specialty Engineered Materials at Avient.

  • Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 12:40 p.m., SPE/MPD MiniTec Conference, Room 201ABCD

  • Wednesday, February 4 at 9:45 a.m., Coffee Talk session in room 211AB

Additional exhibits

Additional examples of Avient’s comprehensive portfolio for healthcare include:

Engineered Materials

  • NEUSoft™ thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs): These ultra-soft materials provide excellent flexibility, clarity, durability, and customization options for a wide range of catheters and in-vivo applications. In addition, the portfolio boasts 14 NEUSoft™ Express colors in the U.S. with a planned 14-day lead time for time-sensitive projects.

  • Trilliant™ HC healthcare thermoplastics: These highly customizable thermoplastics span a variety of base resins and offer excellent toughness and durability for medical devices and components, such as those used in drug delivery devices and respiratory care equipment. This product line also includes Trilliant™ HC 8910 glass-filled polyketone (PK) formulations with a lower carbon footprint than traditional nylons (PA6 and PA66), offering a high-performance alternative for products such as biopharmaceutical clamps.

  • Versaflex™ HC and Versaflex™ HC BIO thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs): These specialty TPEs offer versatile, customizable performance for a nearly endless range of healthcare applications, from tubing to overmolds to injection-molded components. Available in a variety of durometers and performance characteristics, the product family includes grades formulated without animal derivatives and grades with bio-based compositions. For example, the Versaflex™ HC BIO BT218 grade was developed specifically to handle the complexities of biopharmaceutical tubing with a lower carbon footprint than traditional Versaflex HC TPE or silicone alternatives.

Colorants and Functional Additives

  • Cesa™ non-PFAS low-retention additives: Manufactured without intentionally added PFAS-based or fluorinated raw materials, these ready-to-use additive compounds offer a reliable solution to address evolving regulatory requirements. Eliminating the need for secondary coatings, they deliver high-performance water-, solvent-, and lab-solution repellency for use in labware and pipette tips.

  • Colorant Chromatics™ Transcend™ premium healthcare colorants: These high-temperature formulations are engineered to provide vivid, biocompatible colors for medical devices. Based in polysulfone resins, these options are well-suited for demanding and reusable applications subject to multiple sterilization cycles and harsh cleaning agents.

  • Mevopur™ healthcare colorants and functional additives formulations: Manufactured across a global network of ISO 13485 facilities, this broad portfolio is pre-tested to USP Class VI, ISO 10993, USP 661.1, European Pharmacopeia 3.1, and International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) Q3D protocols. Mevopur colorants can be used for various identification and branding needs, while Mevopur functional additives can help to protect or enhance polymer performance in medical devices, diagnostics, or pharmaceutical packaging.

  • Stan-Tone™ HC Plus silicone dispersions for healthcare: These liquid silicone rubber (LSR) and high-consistency silicone rubber (HCR) dispersions provide excellent lightfastness, resistance to harsh chemicals, and heat stability. Pre-tested for USP Class VI compliance, they are excellent for use in specialty medical devices, surgical devices, and other vital healthcare applications.

Avient’s commercial and technical teams will be at booth 2358 in Hall D to answer questions about its medical-grade technologies. MD&M West will be held February 3–5 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
