ALBIS to distribute Covestro's polycarbonate copolymer range

According to Covestro, the APEC® XT range is designed to offer impact resistance at low temperatures, along with improved chemical resistance and tribological performance. The company states that the material maintains impact strength down to around -40 °C and remains mechanically stable under prolonged exposure to cold environments.

Covestro also indicates that the material provides flame retardancy, as well as enhanced sliding and wear properties. These characteristics are positioned for applications exposed to harsh conditions, including frequent cleaning or contact with aggressive substances.

“By adding APEC® XT, we are expanding our portfolio with solutions that deliver reliable performance in critical environments,” says Julian Wegner, business manager Technical Polymers at ALBIS. “For our customers, this opens up new opportunities in applications where durability and resistance are essential.”

Typical applications, according to the companies, include components in the telecommunications and electrical and electronics sectors, such as radio towers, solar power modules and other outdoor units exposed to low temperatures and UV radiation.

The material is also described as suitable for refrigerated and freezer environments, where maintaining impact strength can be a challenge for some engineering polymers. Additional use cases cited include applications in healthcare and mobility.
