C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate. Acts as an emollient and solubilizer. Imparts a pleasant dry feel to the skin and is able to reduce the tackiness of the other ingredients in the formulation. For example, when used in formulations containing mineral oil or petrolatum, it reduces the heaviness and greasiness of the final product. Due to its high polarity, it is a highly effective solubilizer for oil soluble UV absorbers, pigments, and bentones. A homogenous dispersion ensures that the SPF value of the formulation is maximized. It is a non-comedogenic and is stable over a wide pH range. Used in sun screen creams and lotions, antiperspirants, color cosmetics, skin care products.
