Polyhyroxybutyrate (PHB). Acts as an exfoliant. It is produced from naturally derived polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) powders via the bio-fermentation of sugars. It is hydrolytically stable and will not affect the formulation pH. It has high molecular weight. It is characterized by its irregular particle shape which provides a higher degree of abrasion than a spherical particle shape. The particle size has been carefully controlled with a maximum particle size of 50 mesh (297 microns). Used in scrub soaps, foot scrubs, exfoliating face scrubs, body scrubs, creams, liquids, gel and lotions. It is characterized as readily biodegradable under OECD standards for marine and freshwater environments.
