It reduces the interfacial tension to achieve small spheroidal drops, but stabilizes emulsions, preventing coalescence, by a liquid crystals barrier. It generates a barrier to coalescence of oily drops forming a structure that shouds oily drops and spreads in the volume around in overlapping layers. Possesses Remarkable stability at high and low temperature and good resistance to water due to the formation of a hydrophobic film on the surface. It is a long lasting emollient with effective moisturizing effects. It forms emulsion particularly with shiny appearance, easy and pleasant to apply. Used in cosmetics and personal care products.
