ALKEST® SP 20

Sorbitan Laurate. ALKEST® SP 20 by Indorama Ventures Public Company acts as an emulsifier. It is made up of sorbitan esters derived from the reaction of sorbitol with fatty acids sourced from a vegetable source. The presence of both hydrophilic and lipophilic groups reduces the interfacial tension between oil phases and aqueous phases, allowing the formulation of stable emulsions. It is lipophilic in nature having low HLB value. The lipophilic nature makes it soluble or dispersible in oil, favoring its use in water-in-oil (W/O) emulsions and in combination with high HLB emulsifiers in oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions. ALKEST® SP 20 is used to prepare cosmetic creams & lotions, shower & bath, skincare and haircare.
