Stearyl Dimethicone. MIRASIL™ STEARYL DM by Elkem Silicones is an alkyl-modified silicone wax. It provides hybrid characteristics of a lipid-like ingredient and polydimethylsiloxane reflecting the polymer structure. It offers increased protection barrier and semi-gloss payout for sticks. This silicone soft wax shows broad compatibility with cosmetic ingredients. It melts when in contact with skin, thus, creating an extra smooth and silky barrier. The protective barrier of this product shows water resistance & repellency and release property, which are desirable attributes for sunscreens and long wear color cosmetics. It contributes a good payout for anhydrous formulations. It offers non-tacky emollient, substantivity to skin, increased shine & payout in lipstick and good pigment dispersant properties. It is easy to use in cosmetic formulations due to the broad compatibility profile with frequently used ingredients: plant derived oils, silicones and non-silicone emollients. MIRASIL™ STEARYL DM is used in concealers, foundations, cream eyeshadows & blushes, BB Creams, lipsticks & glosses, face & body moisturizers, anti-aging products, sun protection creams & hair leave-on conditioning treatments and hair pomades. The shelf life of this ingredient is 24 months from its date of manufacturing.
