Cyclopentasiloxane (and) Diphenyl Dimethicone. MIRASIL™ C-DPDM by Elkem Silicones is an easy to handle blend of high molecular weight Diphenyl Dimethicone. The cyclopentasiloxane part will rapidly evaporate, while the Diphenyl Dimethicone part will remain on the skin or on hair providing an increased substantivity and conditioning effect. It is a solution of a Polydimethyldiphenylsiloxane gum at 15% in Cyclopentasiloxane. In skin care emulsions, it will impart a unique silky feel. Also, helps to improve the water-resistance properties and the long-lasting effect for sunscreens in sun care products. It confers antistatic and gloss effects to hair formulations and leaves the hair with a very soft feel. It shows compatibility with vegetable oils. It is most useful for creams containing lipophilic plant extracts, natural oils and lipophilic agents. MIRASIL™ C-DPDM is used in emulsions O/W or W/O, hair products for hair rinse and protecting effect (e.g. cuticle coat). The shelf life of this ingredient is 36 months from its date of manufacturing.
