Cyclopentasiloxane (and) Disteardimonium Hectorite (and) Propylene Carbonate. BENTONE GEL® VS-5 PC V by Elementis acts as a rheological additive for cosmetics and toiletries. It is a specially prepared dispersion of a non-abrasive, non-animal origin, organically modified hectorite in volatile silicone (pentamer). It provides rheological control and suspension to organic- and silicone-based cosmetics. It improves application properties and offers thermostable viscosity control of the emulsion's oil phase. It enhances the skin feel by masking greasy or tacky components and gives smoothness and pleasant residual silkiness to the skin. It also provides predictable, reproducible & stable viscosity control, shear-thinning viscosity and excellent suspension of pigments & actives. This ingredient controls alignment of special-effect pigments, raises apparent melting point and ensures cost-efficient use of UV filters. It is used as an alternative to traditional polymer or cellulose-based thickeners for stabilizing emulsions [w/o and o/w]. It can be used in cold process systems and offers a high degree of formulating flexibility. BENTONE GEL® VS-5 PC V is used in antiperspirants, eye & facial make-up, lip products, emulsions, creams & lotions and lip- & sun care products. It is approved under the RSPO mass balance system. The shelf life of this grade is 2 years.
