Phenyl Trimethicone (and) Disteardimonium Hectorite (and) Triethyl Citrate. BENTONE GEL® PTM V by Elementis is a non-abrasive, non-animal origin rheological additive for cosmetics and toiletries. It is a specially prepared dispersion of an organically modified hectorite in phenyl trimethicone. It is an easily spreadable, non-oily emollient which offers a soft, smooth, silky, non-greasy, non-tacky skin feel and improves the gloss & softness of hair. It offers rheological control and suspension to the organic- and silicone-based cosmetics, provides thixotropic flow as well as thermostable viscosity control of the emulsion's oil phase. It improves application properties and is used as an excellent alternative to traditional polymer or cellulose-based thickeners for emulsions stabilization [w/o and o/w]. It offers predictable, reproducible & stable viscosity control, shear-thinning viscosity and excellent suspension of pigments & actives. It controls alignment of special-effect pigments, raises apparent melting point & ensures cost-efficient use of UV filters. It gives a high degree of formulating flexibility and can be used in cold process systems. BENTONE GEL® PTM V is recommended for use in creams/ointments, sunscreens, hair preparations, lip- & make-up products. It is approved under the RSPO mass balance system. The shelf life of this grade is 2 years.
