Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer. Sunspheres™ PGL Polymer by Dow is a non-irritating, non-toxic, non-photosensitizing, sunscreen agent. The hollow spheres in a sunscreen raise the UV protection over the whole UVA/UVB spectrum and work equally well with organic and inorganic sunscreen actives. It is compatible with a broad range of cosmetic ingredients, including emollients and skin conditioners. It allows a reduced amount of UV filters in the formulation. It is excellent for aesthetically pleasing and water-resistant formulations. It has the potential to reduce irritation caused by actives. It is used in a wide variety of cosmetic products using either inorganic or organic UV filters. It is suitable for oil-in-water, water-in-oil and water-in-silicone systems as well as cold- and hot-processable systems. It exhibits low viscosity spray systems. It offers sensory enhancement (light feel) and SPF boosting. It is used in cream and lotion, sunscreens, stick formulations, lip balms, makeup (foundation, BB creams, etc.). Sunspheres™ PGL Polymer has a shelf life of 540 days.
