Polyurethane-48. Baycusan® C 1008 by Covestro acts as a film former designed for hair care products. It is a polyurethane dispersion which is a colloidal system of a high molecular weight polyurethane polymer dispersed in water. An internal anionic emulsifier is incorporated into the polymer backbone to ensure stability of the dispersion. Its unique structure provides a balance of elasticity, hydrophobicity and washability. The extraordinary elasticity of Baycusan® C 1008 imparts a strong lasting hold. Provides excellent high humidity curl retention with natural strong hold. Offers non-tacky feel, excellent sprayability and it is easy to remove with no build up on hair. It is useful over a broad range of pH, suitable for low VOC or zero VOC products and offers good compatibility with commonly used cosmetic ingredients. It is appropriate for many hair styling products like pump setting sprays, aerosol sprays, styling creams and styling lotions.
