Ammonium laureth sulfate. Used for generating stable foam consisting of densely packed small bubbles. This produces a "luxurious" feel in cosmetics and toiletries and is also related to the excellent wetting characteristics of ammonium lauryl ether sulfate. Offers all the advantages of ammonium lauryl sulfate in addition to remarkable solubility and high sudsing characteristics. Possesses low cloud point, solubilizing power and viscosity response. Used for clear liquid shampoo formulations where low eye irritation is also important. Since such formulations are prepared to have a pH slightly less than 7, they naturally complement the slightly acidic mantle of the scalp. Also recommended for rich lather bubble baths, particularly for children, where high foam and skin mildness are requisites. Can also be used in deodorant preparations.
