Calcium/Sodium PVM/MA Copolymer. Gantrez™ MS-955 polymer by Ashland Specialty Chemical acts as a thickening agent. It is a mixed sodium and calcium salt of methyl vinyl ether and maleic anhydride copolymer. The polymer is slowly soluble in water resulting in amber-colored solutions with high viscosity. The cations form salt bridges which crosslink the polymer chains. Gantrez™ MS-955 polymer is used in oral care products. It offers excellent bioadhesion in wet environments and long term hold to denture adhesive creams and powders.
