Cellulose Gum. Aqualon® sodium carboxymethylcellulose by Ashland Specialty Chemical acts as a lubricant abd thickening agent. It is made by reacting sodium monochloroacetate with alkalicellulose under rigidly controlled conditions. The resultant anionic polymer is purified and dried. It is used for water binding and syneresis control. Aqualon® sodium carboxymethylcellulose is used in skin care and oral care products.
