Kao launches cream duo inspired by nature’s first skincare

Kao Corporation announces the international launch of two new skincare products from its global brand KANEBO - KANEBO CREAM IN DAY II and KANEBO CREAM IN NIGHT II - on September 5, 2025. 

Inspired by vernix caseosa, the natural substance that protects the skin of newborns, these products incorporate newly developed biomimetic ingredients designed to enhance skin hydration.

Reimagining skincare through the power of vernix

These new products will be strategically positioned as KANEBO’s global signature products, with a multi-country rollout across Asia, including flagship promotions in Thailand.

 

In pursuit of its Global Sharp Top initiative, Kao has positioned KANEBO as one of six core brands driving global growth within its cosmetics business, and will continue to invest strategically in the brand while strengthening its focus.

 

At the core of this innovation is inspiration drawn from vernix, the creamy, moisture-rich layer that coats the skin of newborns. Often referred to as nature’s first skincare, it plays a crucial role in preventing dryness once the baby is exposed to the outside world. Vernix offers exceptional hydration, acts as a barrier, and offers biological defence for the skin.

 

To achieve similar benefits, KANEBO developed the TAISHI™ Complex*1, a biomimetic ingredient that replicates the vernix’s ability to retain moisture. This complex is now included in both of the new products.

KANEBO CREAM IN DAY II

 

This day cream provides protection against UV rays and dryness, leaving the skin with a soft, glowing appearance and enhanced firmness. Featuring Niacinamide and Licorice Derivative, it addresses healthy, smooth skin without roughness or redness. TAISHI™ Complex helps protect the skin from dryness. The All-Day Shield creates an elastic veil that provides long-lasting moisture retention and prevents makeup smudging due to dryness or oiliness throughout the day.

KANEBO CREAM IN NIGHT II

 

A night cream designed to envelop the skin during the night, promoting a supple and firm complexion by morning. Enriched with Niacinamide, which penetrates deep into the skin, approaching both the dermis and epidermis to improve wrinkles. Additionally, it suppresses excessive melanin production to prevent dark spots. TAISHI™ Complex delivers intensive hydration during the night, when the skin is most prone to moisture loss. The Overnight Shield forms a protective veil, locking in moisture and defending the skin against dryness.

The launch of the new cream duo represents a significant milestone in the company’s global strategy. The goal is to establish this cream as a signature product that becomes synonymous with the KANEBO brand.

 

Recognizing Thailand as a strategically important market, KANEBO plans to appoint Thai celebrities as ambassadors to enhance brand awareness and effectively communicate the unique appeal of its products, which redefine conventional beauty standards. Additionally, a special event is scheduled at PARC PARAGON, a prominent landmark in central Bangkok. During this event, guests will have the opportunity to experience the new cream duo firsthand. Influencers from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Myanmar, where KANEBO products are available, will also be in attendance. Through this initiative, KANEBO aims to extend the reach and appeal of its new cream duo across the Asian region.
