This pioneering innovation is a great example of close cooperation across Croda’s global R&D, biotech, operations, and marketing teams, supported by key external scientific contributors:

  • The team at their Biotechnology Research and Technology site, Daresbury, UK, led the creation of the novel keratin structure that met the performance and sustainability specifications.

  • Additional insights about KeraBio K31’s unique mode of action, particularly its role in forming internal hair bonds, were developed by the UK R&D team, strengthened by data generated in collaboration with trusted external partners, adding depth to our understanding of this advanced technology.

  • In parallel, their R&D team in the USA delivered robust in-vitro performance data, demonstrating KeraBio K31’s ability to significantly improve hair strength and resilience, validating its benefits in real-world application.

  • Supporting the scale-up process, its Process Innovation team brought critical expertise to ensure KeraBio K31 was production-ready at a commercial scale, preserving its integrity and performance in formulation.
