Last update on Aug 8, 2025

Vaccinium Angustifolium Fruit Extract, also known as blueberry fruit extract, is a good source of antioxidants and vitamin C - which protect the skin and reduce dullness. A natural ingredient, blueberry extract fights free radicals and environmental damage that are a primary cause of premature skin aging. It also conditions the skin and makes it appear brighter and healthier. Thanks to its rich composition of nutrients and minerals, Vaccinium Angustifolium Fruit Extract works at a cellular level to mitigate dullness and dryness of the skin and cure inflammation. This extract is identified as a dark purple liquid with a characteristic odor and has one of the highest antioxidant capacities of any fruit. Blueberry fruit extract is soluble in water and is commonly added to lotions, creams, gels, toners, and sun care products targeting anti-aging and conditioning.

What is VACCINIUM ANGUSTIFOLIUM FRUIT EXTRACT used for?

With its multifaceted benefits, Vaccinium Angustifolium Fruit Extract works wonders for both the skin and hair care industries. Its rich composition of polyphenols, anthocyanins, flavonoids, resveratrol, vitamins C and K, and other minerals makes it a much sought-after natural ingredient in cosmetics.

In skin care: Vaccinium Angustifolium Fruit Extract protects the skin from oxidative stress and free radicals - keeping wrinkles at bay. It brightens, tones, and deeply conditions the skin to improve its texture and make it healthier. Additionally, it combats dryness and inflammation. Blueberry fruit extract is found in hydrating moisturizers and serums, anti-aging creams, brightening exfoliants, as well as toners.

In hair care: Vaccinium Angustifolium Fruit Extract is a natural therapy for dry, dull, and frizzy hair. Packed with essential vitamins and minerals, it gives life to the shafts by retaining moisture and providing them with strength. On the scalp, this extract delivers a soothing sensation and fights off dandruff. Blueberry fruit extract is especially beneficial for curly hair and can be found in moisturizing shampoos, anti-frizz conditioners, hair-strengthening serums, and scalp-soothing mists.

Origin

Vaccinium Angustifolium Fruit Extract is procured from ripe blueberries (Vaccinium angustifolium), which are native to eastern and central parts of Canada and the northeastern US. The blueberry plant grows as a shrub with oval-shaped green leaves and bell-shaped white flowers with blue-black berries in between. The berries are crushed and dissolved in a solvent to make the extract. It is then filtered to remove the impurities and may be concentrated.
