What is THYMUS VULGARIS EXTRACT used for?

Thymus Vulgaris Extract is a potent antioxidant with the ability to fight off free radicals and prevent premature aging of the skin. It protects the skin from environmental damage and oxidative stress. Its antimicrobial properties help treat and prevent acne by inhibiting bacterial growth. Further, it can soothe the skin and reduce redness, making it suitable for inflamed and sensitive skin. In hair care, Thymus Vulgaris Extract balances scalp oil production, reduces dandruff, and promotes healthy hair growth by stimulating circulation. Additionally, its natural herbal scent enhances the fragrance of skincare and haircare products, offering both therapeutic and sensory benefits.

Origin

Thymus Vulgaris Extract is made by extracting active compounds from the leaves and flowers of the thyme plant. The process typically involves steam distillation or solvent extraction. For steam distillation, steam is passed through thyme, vaporizing essential oils, which are then condensed and collected. In solvent extraction, solvents are used to dissolve the essential oils and active ingredients from the thyme, followed by evaporation to yield a concentrated extract. The final extract is filtered to remove impurities and concentrated to the desired potency.
