What is SODIUM STEAROYL LACTYLATE used for?

Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate is valued in the cosmetic industry for its conditioning, emulsifying, and stabilizing properties. It helps blend oil and water-based ingredients, enhancing the texture and consistency of creams, lotions, and moisturizers. Its ability to condition the skin makes it a popular ingredient in skincare products, providing a smooth, soft feel. Additionally, it enhances the absorption of active ingredients, improving the effectiveness of the formulations. Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate is also used in hair care products to improve manageability and impart a silky texture, making it a versatile and essential ingredient in various personal care items.

Origin

Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate is made through the esterification of lactic acid with stearic acid, followed by neutralization with sodium hydroxide. In this process, lactic acid and stearic acid are reacted to form stearoyl lactylate, which is then neutralized to produce Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate.
