What is ROYAL JELLY EXTRACT used for?

  • Skin conditioning: Delivers deep hydration and improves skin softness. Commonly used in moisturizers, creams and lotions for long-lasting nourishment.
  • Anti-aging support: Provides antioxidant benefits to combat oxidative stress. Ideal for serums and treatments aimed at reducing fine lines and enhancing elasticity.
  • Hair conditioning: Strengthens and revitalizes hair strands. Frequently found in masks, conditioners and scalp treatments for shine and repair.

Origin

Royal Jelly Extract is sourced from royal jelly, a milky secretion produced by worker honeybees (Apis mellifera). Fresh royal jelly is collected from beehives. It is then processed through solvent extraction, often using a water/glycerin-based method, or lyophilization. These processes concentrate its bioactive compounds, including 10-HDA, proteins, and B-vitamins. This gentle method preserves its potency, resulting in a viscous liquid or powder suitable for cosmetic applications.

Safety Profile

Royal Jelly Extract is generally safe for cosmetic use at typical concentrations of 0.1 to 5%. It has a low hazard rating from EWG and minimal irritation potential for most users. However, as a bee-derived product, it may cause allergic reactions in individuals sensitive to bee products or pollen. Patch testing is strongly recommended. It is approved by the EU COSING database for skin conditioning functions, but it is not suitable for vegan formulations.
