Quaternium-87 is an imidazolium quat used in the formulation of hair care formulations. It is vegetable based and biodegradable. It has antistatic properties and is substantive to the hair without any significant build-up effect. Furthermore, in comparison to other quaternaries, it does not reduce the volume after a hair rinse application.

What is QUATERNIUM-87 used for?

Quaternium-87 provides ease of wet combing, no build-up, hair gloss, hair softness, antistatic properties. It is used in hair care products such as shampoo, conditioner, leave-on, hair mask, detangler.

Origin

Quaternium-87 contains a mixture of saturated and unsaturated C9-C19 alkyl compounds in the side chain of the quaternary ammonium compound.
