Last update on May 12, 2026

Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, also known as Leucidal® Liquid (a popular trade name), is a natural preservative produced by fermenting radish roots with the lactic acid bacteria Leuconostoc mesenteroides. It is rich in antimicrobial peptides and has become a staple in clean beauty and “preservative-free” formulations. This clear to slightly hazy liquid provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial protection while offering mild skin-conditioning benefits. Origin

Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate is produced through the controlled fermentation of radish roots (Raphanus sativus) using the beneficial bacteria Leuconostoc mesenteroides. During fermentation, the bacteria produce bacteriocins and other natural antimicrobial compounds. The resulting filtrate is then filtered and stabilized. It is 100% natural, vegan, and sustainably produced, making it highly suitable for organic and clean beauty certifications.
